Sinterklaas Feest 2008

Saturday, 6th December 2008

Sinterklaas was overwhelmed when he arrived this year. The boat brought him to Dru Point in Margate, where he found three times as many children as in the past few years there to meet him.

Sinterklaas was very impressed by the large turn out, but also saddened. He hadn’t expected so many children, so he didn’t have enough goodies to share with all of them. So he told his Black Peters to make sure that next year they brought lots and lots more lollies and drinks for the children.

Sinterklaas was also happy because there were no naughty children. The Black Peters were unhappy, because they like to put bad children in their big sack – but there were no bad children to be found. So they had to go home with nothing.

Sinterklaas was thankful for all the help he was given this year. To Captain Jack for steering the boat, to Elly for helping with his mitre, to Yolande for organising games for the children. Also thanks to Arnold for warming the rookworst, to Eilef and Betsy for organising the throne and the music, to Margaret for organising all the little bags. There were lots of people who did little things to help. Finally, thanks to Kees and Irene for setting up, and for running the stall with the croquettes, rookworst, tea and coffee, Dutch apple slice and the book for sale.

The DAS would like to thank Jan Visser and his girls Michelle and Jessica for their wonderful contribution to the success of the day. Next year there’ll be lots more rookworst!
